Agri-King’s Accreditation Programs

By Tony Grzemski, Preventive Controls Qualified Individual– Agri King, Inc. is a global supplier of specialty feed additives, silage additives, and pit lagoon additives, whose employees consist of individuals with diverse talents.  This is why understanding Agri-King’s accreditation programs is essential. The team is dedicated to selling and servicing the farming community by providing the most advanced nutritional concepts and products through the utilization of the latest technology.  Along with these technological advancements, Agri-King, Inc. participates in a number of independent third-party verification audits.  These audits are crucial to demonstrate that our company and products follow and meet the growing global regulatory feed safety compliance.  Our clients rely on our feed safety compliance for the following reasons:

  • Client satisfaction and assurance of a safe feed product.
  • Assurance to the client that we have no foreseeable sanitary conditions.
  • Increase client satisfaction.

Agri-King, Inc. is currently participating in the following facility and product accreditation programs: FEMAS, UFAS, SF/SF, FSMA, MOSA, WSDA, CFIA, and FDA.

  • FEMAS – Feed Materials Assurance Scheme covers all feed ingredients intended for direct feeding to animals or for inclusion in compound feeds and blends. This scheme is based on HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) Principals, a system originally pioneered by NASA, but now forming the bedrock of EU (European Union) food and feed legislation. Appropriate product labels will carry our facility registration number.
  • UFAS – Universal Feed Assurance Scheme deals with warehousing and distribution. This scheme is audited and certified by an independent certification body in accordance with the internationally recognized standard EN45011 (also known as ISO Guide 65).  This plan addresses warehousing and distribution under Agricultural Industries Confederation (AIC) feed safety assurance schemes.  Appropriate product labels will carry this facility registration number.  A certificate of compliance is available to our clients and their certifiers.
  • SF/SF – Safe Feed/Safe Food is a voluntary program trusted by the FDA (U.S. Food & Drug Administration). This program demonstrates accountability and commitment to food safety through risk and cost reduction, sharpens awareness of regulations promoting continued improvements, and is verified through independent auditing.  SF/SF is Safe Quality Foods Institute’s FSC Core 36 standard.  This standard is based on HACCP principals and currently meets FDA-FSMA regulations.  Appropriate product packaging will carry the following logo and verbiage:

This feed was produced in a facility certified
in the American Feed Industry Association’s
Safe Feed/Safe Food Certification Program;

  • FSMAFood Safety Modernization Act is the regulation that transformed the focus from responding to foodborne illness to preventing it. We now utilize HACCP principals to prevent the event from happening.  Under the FSMA we must conduct a HARPC (Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventive Controls) assessment to reduce the risk of food/feed contamination.  We look at our internal processes to prevent the event from happening should the event be in our control to do so.  Our facility receives an accreditation certificate, which is publicly available to our clients.
  • MOSA – Midwest Organic Services Association is the second largest Organic Certifier in the USA. Agri-King, Inc. manufactures a line of organic certified products which carry the “Special” designation in each product’s name.  Agri-King, Inc.’s facility meets the National Organic Program (7 C.F.R. Part 205) to produce or handle the “Special” products for processing, packaging, and labeling of these livestock feed products.  Our “Special” products are MOSA certified under our handler program which allows us to utilize both the USDA Organic seal and MOSA Organic seal for these product labels.  Qualifying products will carry the following logos and the products will be listed in the Organic Certificate and COPS letter from our certifier.  This information is publicly available to our clients and their certifiers.

More Accreditation Certifications

  • WSDA – Washington State Department of Agriculture is also an accredited certification agent under the USDA. However, this agency addresses Agri-King, Inc.’s in-put products under the NOP (National Organic Program) Organic Regulations.  Products that qualify for an in-put review will be registered for use in certified organic operations.  These products do not qualify for organic certification because of the application of use.  We only have one product allowed to carry the WSDA registration logo, which is Organic Pit-King® Water Soluble.  The following logo appears on the product label:
  • CFIA – Canadian Food Inspection Agency feed registration. Under the Canadian Government’s Feeds Act regulations, all livestock feeds and the manufacturing facility are required to undergo a safety review/pre-market assessment requiring annual reviews.  At this time, Agri-King, Inc. has a small number of CFIA registered products.  A CFIA product registration number will be listed on each product label.
  • FDA – Under the Public Health Security and Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act of 2002 (the Bioterrorism Act), food/feed facilities are required to be registered. This registration helps the FDA to take steps to protect the public from a threatened or actual terrorist attack on the U.S. food supply and other food-related emergencies.  This is a facility registration for compliance.  There are neither specific FDA product registrations nor product endorsements under this regulation.  Agri-King, Inc.’s U.S. facility and warehouse locations fall under a bi-annual renewal, and our locations are currently registered.
